Odoo Point of Sale is a browser-based POS solution that runs on any device — tablet, touchscreen or PC. It connects seamlessly with Inventory and Accounting so that stock levels and revenue are synchronised in real time.
Even without an internet connection, the system remains fully operational. All sales are stored locally and synchronised automatically once the connection is restored.
Core capabilities of Odoo Point of Sale
Offline mode
The POS continues to operate fully without a network connection. Transactions are saved locally in the browser and synchronised with Odoo automatically once back online.
Session management
Cashiers open and close POS sessions with their own PIN. End-of-day summaries show revenue per payment method; discrepancies are flagged immediately.
Product variants and discounts
Items with variants (size, colour) can be selected directly at the register. Loyalty cards, discount codes and promotional prices are applied automatically.
Loyalty programmes
Reward points are credited per purchase and redeemed at the register. Customer cards, birthday offers and tiered reward levels are configurable.
Hardware support
Odoo supports barcode scanners, receipt printers, cash drawers and customer displays. Card readers are connected via official payment providers.
Self-service kiosk
Odoo POS can be configured as a self-service terminal. Customers place orders themselves; the order is sent directly to the kitchen or warehouse.
How it works in practice
Open session
The cashier opens a new POS session and selects the register. Opening balance is recorded; all configured products and price lists are immediately available.
Sell
Items are added by barcode scan, search field or product category. Variants, quantities and discounts can be adjusted directly in the cart.
Accept payment
Cash, card, customer account or gift card are processed in the payment dialogue. A receipt is printed or sent by email.
Close session
At the end of the day, the session is closed. The register report and daily summary are automatically posted as journal entries to Accounting.
